The Skincare Diaries - January Favourites

Hi girls and Happy New Year! I'm back after a break and I missed you! January is traditionally a time of year when we try to take more care of ourselves, as a skincare consultant I've been giving lots of advice to women whose new year's resolution is take better care of their skin. They often ask me what I use myself so with that in mind here is the skincare I'm using and loving this month!

La Roche-Posay is a French Pharmacy brand which specialises in treating sensitive skin. I'm currently loving cult fave line Effaclar which I'm using in a bid to keep my combination skin clear. I have the Effaclar wash (£10.20) and the Duo moisturiser (£13) which is in very high demand at the moment. (@bootsskincare on will announce when it is back in stock on boots.com) I've been using the gentle wash twice a day and the Duo once a day for a few weeks and I'm seeing really good results with a visible improvement in brightness and clarity of my skin!

We're used to the idea of using a serum under our moisturiser and No7 have brought out their Youthful Eye Serum (£19.50) that we can use under our eye cream. No7 promises results in four weeks. I've been using this for about 3 weeks now and already starting to see a reduction of dark circles, I'll let you know how this works with fine lines, I have high hopes!

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix was something I was really excited about trying for £12.99 you get a tub of 60 facial pads soaked in a 4% glycolic acid formula that also contains hyaluronic acid to moisturise. Glycolic acid is an exfoliator and retexturiser and I'm using these after cleansing to target the small amount of acne scarring I still have, so far so good! You can also use these to help treat uneven skintone, age spots etc and lines. Nip+Fab say you can use this twice a day, but I find 3-4 times a week to be enough for me! NB - You should always wear an spf on your face but this is especially important after using products containing glycolic acid!

Finally one of my long-term favourites which is invaluable when I need my makeup to last all day/night! Una Brennan's Anti-Shine Pore Minimiser (£8.99) is amazing as a primer under foundation to block any shine! Simples!

What skincare are you loving this month?

  3. You my dear, are such an enabler!! The No 7 Youthful Eye Serum sounds like an absolute must have if it reduces dark circles. Might be snapping that up on my next trip to Boots :) The Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix pages sound interesting and if it helps with scarring I think I'll give them a go xx
